Cella’s Personal Fashion Rule Book

Let’s be real here. If you have don’t know me already, I love to shop whether it be online, window shopping, or on the actual hunt. I can’t help it, just like iced honey oat milk latte’s (and thank you LA for engraining this essential into me) running through my blood – so does thinking about my outfit archive. Be mindful that this is MY personal fashion rule book, I’m not saying that this is THE only way to dress but it is one that I can recommend to anyone!

A common question I hear from all my friends and family is, “What are you looking for when you are shopping??” It’s simple, I created an outfits collection on Instagram of cute outfits that I can look at for inspiration. I’m also subscribed to WHOWHATWEAR that updates me on everyday fashion/beauty trends. So these are my starting points to give me inspiration. Next, I will pay attention to these rules that are so essential to me and can be for you:

  1. Is this item something you can see yourself wearing every day?

Ooh that highlighter yellow sweater is so Hailey Bieber! Listen, it’s cute but do you see this being an item that you can wear multiple times? Probably not, unless you are Hailey Bieber or in high-fashion then sure. You want to invest in pieces that you can see yourself wearing for years and years.

  1. The Holy Hexagon

DENIM. BLACK. WHITE/CREAM. TAN. PATTERN. That's it. That’s the rule book. No seriously. When I browse around for items I’m not really looking for, I pay attention to these 5 things. Why? Because it goes with EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. You can mix and match any of these and boom you got yourself a good outfit. This may be contrary to my first rule but don’t be afraid to invest in items with color or some patterns. I’m just a huge fan of monochrome, so mixing any of the Holy Hexagon with that red sweater would definitely make it pop.

  1. The UnOfficial Official Essential Item Checklist that everyone needs in their life:

  • Trench Coat

  • Leather Jacket

  • Denim

  • Leather boots – black, white, patter (like faux snakeskin)

  • Pants

  • Sweater

  • Strappy Sandal

  • Jewelry

I may or may not own at least double.. Ok MAYBE triple of these things. I love choices okay?! (I’m a type 7 on the Enneagram, I can’t commit to just one!! Calm down, I’m not speaking for my love life people.) If you look at these items and have the colors fit within the Holy Hexagon, boom baby you looking FOYNE!

  1. Don’t Rush It.

“Cella, I don’t have the money to buy all of this stuff.” Alright cut it, I’m not saying buy these items tomorrow, but everything I own is a compilation of what I find over time. Quality over quantity. It’s like dating, you see someone (that item you’re holding in your hand right now) and now you’re interested. You get to know them by talking to them a little bit (trying it on in the fitting room or looking in the mirror). You exchange numbers (you put it on hold if you wanna think about it). You think about them and start to fall in love with everything about them, (browse the store or mall some more). You take them out on a date, boom you fall in love more and more every day and then boom boom you got baby. (You purchased that freakin thing cause you accidentally fell in love). AND scene.

So there you have it people. These are my essential rules for creating an everyday outfit. Good luck out there and kill it!
